Achieve your Potential Unlimited! - Image Potential Unlimited is a psychology consultancy firm, which believes that within each person lies unlimited potential and that this potential should be and can be developed by addressing problems and obstacles which may be hindering individuals, groups and organisations from achieving their greatest potential within the workplace and everyday life.

The founder and managing member of Potential Unlimited is Aretha van der Merwe. She is a qualified Industrial Psychologist registered at the HPCSA (PS 0096245), a trained life coach and a registered Counsellor at the Council for Counsellors (SCO 01745). In addition, Aretha has background experience in social work, having worked in conjunction with the South African Police Service (SAPS) as a social worker for five years.

Aretha now works with individuals, through life coaching and trauma counselling, as well as with organisations and businesses, aiding them in the effective management of employees. Using a number of diverse models and methods, she analyses the problems present in the organisation and then addresses the opportunities and solutions open to the client.

Potential Unlimited services include:

Life coaching: Helping individuals address personal challenges and improve thinking and decision making skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and self-confidence levels.

Trauma counselling: This includes Incident Trauma – where a critical event, outside of the usual range of human experience, produces a negative response which in turn hinders the victims optimal functioning - and Process Trauma – where psychological trauma and consequent dysfunction is connected to a process such as a divorce or child abuse.

Recruitment and selection: Aretha guides and assists companies through the recruiting and selection processes.

Interpersonal effectiveness development and training: Training and development for employees, designed to improve and maintain high levels of productivity and ensure that they are able to meet the employer’s strategic, business and operational standards and goals.

Organisational development: Implementation of planned interventions in the organisation’s processes after careful analysis of the problems present, with the goal of increasing organisational effectiveness and individual development.

Team building: A process of group self-assessment aimed at gauging and improving the performance of an organisational group.

Career guidance and development: Designed to enable individuals to make informed choices and transitions relating to education and work.
