Dr. Maria Christodoulou MBChB (Stell)/ DipHom (CEDH)/ DipAstrological Studies/ DIPC (Life)

Dr. Maria Christodoulou is a leading health coach and founder of Genesys Health, with a wide range of knowledge and experience derived from 18 years in integrative healthcare and ongoing coaching in the private and public sector. Based in Cape Town, Maria graduated from Stellenbosch University with a medical degree, spent several years gaining a broad range of experience in the public and private sector and exploring alternative and complementary medicine before going on to establish a successful private practice offering integrative care. During this time she became known for her expertise in the support of people living with cancer and acquired extensive experience in the integrative management of chronic and lifestyle diseases. A sabbatical period during 2004 allowed Maria an opportunity to redefine her personal values and goals and consider different ways that her extensive experience might contribute to a diverse society. She left medical practice, completed a Diploma in Practitioner Coaching at The Coaching Centre (Cape Town), and began coaching full-time in 2005. She has a particular interest in working with:

• Individuals dealing with chronic/ lifestyle diseases and/or needing to make lifestyle or behavioural change
• Groups and organizations seeking to create environments that are conducive to the health of the individual as well as the collective
• Health professionals to redefine the scope of medical practice, the role of the health professional in a diverse society and the importance of self-knowledge and self-awareness in leadership
• Coaching students Maria is a registered member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa and COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) and President of Women for Afrika, a volunteer-based non-profit organization that focuses on the empowerment of women through personal development programmes.

She has spent most of her career supporting people to transform their health and their lives by developing their capacity to access inner and outer resources, increase self-awareness and formulate creative thinking. She is passionate about the development of people and dedicated to discovering creative ways of purposeful living and healing. GENESYS Health™ was established by leading Health Coach, Dr. Maria Christodoulou, to provide conscious, creative and innovative approaches for enabling integral health within individuals, groups, communities and organisations. These approaches integrate the wisdom of all healing traditions and embrace a holistic view of health that considers each individual to be intrinsically healthy, wise and an expert participant in their own healing. In an era where it is almost universally accepted that health is so much more than the absence of disease there is still a shortage of approaches that truly acknowledge the significance of the body's role in the healing process or the impact of thoughts, emotions and shifting perception on physical experience.
