BodyFit Centre

BodyFit Centre - Image For some persons, getting to the gym despite the winter cold and rain is difficult. For others, re-occurring sports injuries are a real obstacle to achieving physical wellbeing.

The BodyFit Centre, based in Tygervalley Waterfront, is helping to ‘train the untrainables’ – those people who do not normally have the time or the physical ability to exercise. Their secret is the Power Plate (PP), an exercise machine that uses the principle of whole body vibrations (WBV) to improve a person’s general fitness, sport performance (golf, rugby, running, cycling), general wellbeing, and outer appearance. There are numerous benefits associated with using the Power Plate machine. These include: increased metabolism, improved muscle-strength, fitness, flexibility, blood circulation, as well as breakdown of cellulite and reduction of back and joint pain. It has also been proven to be a good treatment for osteoporosis, diabetes and arthritis, among many others. Elsabe Kriel is the owner and founder of the BodyFit Centre. Her enthusiasm for exercise and sports therapy drives the training offered at the gym. ‘My passion and interest has, from early on, in fact since my school days, been sport, sports related activities and the injuries which more often than not, occur when playing sports’, remarks Elsabe. ‘After school, I went on to complete my B.Sc. degree in Sports Science at Stellenbosch University and following this, my path crossed with Biokinetics - ‘it was love at first sight’. I did my honours in Biokinetics and then worked as a biokineticist in Knysna for two years. At the end of 2006 I had the wonderful opportunity of opening my own practice.’

The BodyFit Centre opened its doors in March 2007 and Elsabe and her team have been training clients at the Tyger Valley premises for just over a year. ‘My approach to my work is such that I believe that a client’s needs always come first and that they deserve ones best service and dedicated attention’ says Elsabe. ‘At BodyFit Centre we work on a small, intimate basis and never book more than four clients at a time, in order that our time with each client is never pressurised. The atmosphere at the studio is very relaxed.’ Of the training programmes on offer at BodyFit, most combine Power Plate, weight and cardiovascular training as well as the services of a trained bionkineticist, in order to give clients the best results possible. About this Elsabe comments: ‘We have seen fantastic results using such methods among those who have sports injuries, as well as among cyclists, long distance athletes and golfers.’

Elsabe invites you to visit the BodyFit Centre and book a free Power Plate session. This is an opportunity for you to, as their motto says, ‘Explore more...Be more...Define your health today!’
